Last evening was a great success for conservatives with sweeping victories in NJ and NY.
“Gubernatorial candidates racked up major wins…in Virginia and New Jersey Tuesday night, as former Virginia Attorney General Bob McDonnell and New Jersey prosecutor Chris Christie claimed the governor’s offices in both key states.”
Conservative candidate Doug Hoffman put forth a good fight in NY-23 gaining 46% of the vote to Owens’s 49%.
The Democratic Party and the Left will tell the public tomorrow that these elections are not influenced by voters’ perception of President Obama’s big government policies. According to the White House, the President was watching basketball on television last night and had no interest in the election.
However, the London Telegraph reports:
“Exit polls in Virginia found that four out of 10 voters said their vote was affected by what they thought of Mr. Obama. So the notion that this had nothing to do with the President, simply won’t fly. The exit polls also indicated that independents in New Jersey fled from the Democratic incumbent Jon Corzine to Chris Christie.”
This is a clear indicator that Americans are tired of the big-government schemes of socialized medicine, cap-and trade and card-check.
As William Kristol said in the New York Times last week, “It’s a great time to be a conservative.”
